Planning For My School PSA Commercial

Image
Planning Blog Props: Being that my group and I came to an agreement to make a commercial promoting the Fort Lauderdale High Mock Trial Team, a main prop we will use is a gavel. We will also use other props like a podium and a trophy. Costumes: In our commercial, we will have 8 subjects in total. This includes all three of our group members at one point along with 5 other people who are members of the Fort Lauderdale High Mock Trial Team. They would all be wearing “court attire”. This means they would dress up as if they were going to court. For the boys, this would include button up dress shirts that are long sleeved and could be any color, with any color tie. For bottoms, they would wear dress slacks and for shoes they would be dress up style shoes. For the girls, there can be variations. The girls may wear button up dress shirts like the guys, blouses or a dress. For bottoms they can wear skirts or dress slacks and for shoes they may wear either heels or flats. Everyone can wea...

Research Blog: Commercial Conventions

My group decided to do a School PSA for our commercial. To get an understanding of what a PSA typically contains, me and my group watched a few on youtube to help guide our filming. After watching multiple videos we found that school PSAs typically use filming techniques, such as tracking shots and wide shots. These are used to demonstrate student life and establish the different school scenes. Editing techniques like a shot/reverse shot are also used to record dialogue and interactions between students.  In school PSAs, there are multiple codes and conventions used. For example, PSAs always end with some kind of message or warning. This is used to encourage students to do the right thing and enjoy their time at school as much as possible. The costumes used are what you’d expect to see in a high school. Items like hoodies, t-shirts, jeans, and sneakers can be found on the actors. These actors are often shown doing basic activities like walking to classes and soc...

Hey, Guys welcome back,  For this commercial, I will be working with Marvin and Kyra. We decided to work together because as a group we all balance each other and our skills. With the three of us in a group I know we will all shine individually but as a unit, we will be the strongest. I have known Marvin and Kyra for about a year and a half. I met Marvin in our law class and I met Kyra because we are both on the Mock Trial team. Ever since our friendships flourished our group will work well together because Kyra will film, Marvin will edit, and I will be responsible for directing. Kyra enjoys taking photos and experimenting with angles so that's why we think she is perfect for filming. Marvin loves all things social media, he loves taking the next step to turn good content into great content so he will be editing. I am always a better behind the scene/workshop worker so I am going to focus on the execution of our commercial although I will partake in the commercial. Overall o...
