Music Video Group Blog

              For this project I have decided to work with one partner, I will be working with Marvin. I decided to take the duo route instead of a large group because I believe it will solve problems that sometimes arise when too many people are involved. I also knew I did not want to work alone because I like to have someone to bounce ideas off of and brainstorm with. My group has gotten smaller since the last project, but I am confident that our music video will turn out amazing. Last project my group had three people which sometimes created conflict since there were times only two out of three people agreed on certain things. When only two people agreed, sometimes the third person just went along, resulting in them not being fully satisfied with the final product. Another conflict that is resolved is the access and availability to the project me and my partner are more available and able to meet. Marvin and I did work in the same group last projected and worked together really well so I knew that our pairing up will be good. We balance each other’s skills one person is better and angles and filming while the other can edit the video nicely. We both are fully hands-on with our work and focus on producing great projects. Marvin and I decided on the song Starboy by The Weekend. We will be using the clean version of this song. Marvin and I both really like The Weekend as an artist and feel like we could carry out an amazing vision of this song.  This song has a good beat and is pretty flexible with the story you can tell through it. I think Marvin will be really good at filming and casting, set, and costumes and be good at telling the story through those factors. Personally, I think my strong suit will be editing, directing, and helping to make sure we are telling our story effectively. While I feel these personal strengths will be how we shine having one another to balance off of and intertwine our thoughts. I don’t feel that either of us feels the need to limit ourselves or our ideas which will help take our music video to the next level. Overall I think we are going to tell a good story for our song and our group will be successful because of me and Marvin's teamwork.

1. How does your product use or  challenge conventions AND how does it  represent social groups or issues?   My music video challenge convention’s because we worked with what we had are video used a local park instead of any fancy sets and my iPhone camera instead of anything fancy. Our props were all objects we had already owned. My video showed a biracial couple which isn’t always represented in the media. Also shows how jumping to conclusions isn’t always the answer our video shows the girlfriend upset cause she thinks the boyfriend is cheating. Genre Decision Blog

 Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog, today I wanted to share with you my group's decision on what genre our final task will be.  The first genre we considered was a comedic genre and this was a genre we spent a lot of time looking at. When looking at it, we liked how comedy and comedic decision is spread throughout the entire media,  for example, you have the comedic and goofy movements with the camera shaking and going upside down. As we reviewed it more, our thoughts changed about the props and we originally didn't like the use of props but as we reviewed we began to see the comedic purposes that props play and that purpose,  it can be the actor using it to do something silly or really anything, and we also liked how we would use diegetic sound like laughing to get the genre across even more.
