Planning Blog: Music Video
Song Title:
Save Your Tears by The Weeknd
Props:
Since my group and I decided to produce a commercial based off a breakup between a couple right after a
date, our main prop will be a rose. Some other props we will use is a phone and a car.
Costumes:
In our music video we will have one main person as the subject , the girl who had just been broken up
with. Along with the main subject, we will have other subjects as well. For the couple since they just
came from a date they will be dressed up nicely but casual and since we will film at night they will wear
warm clothes. For example, dresses, a jacket, etc. Our other subjects, we will only use their lips within the
music video. If we can not get our subjects, to dress up nicely they will dress up in normal clothing like t
shirts, jeans, sneakers, etc.
Film Schedule:
On 11/13/22, our group researches codes and conventions of pop genre music videos.
On 11/15/22, our group establishes the props, costumes, schedule, location list, and backup plan.
On 11/19/22, our group will create the storyboard for our 1 min and 15 seconds music video.
On 12/10/22, our group will film and record the necessary shots for our music video.
On 12/15/22, our group will edit and add the final touches to the music video.
Location List:
When filming this music video, we will use many locations. These locations would start off walking
outside of a restaurant showing the couple leaving the restaurant. This would be the point where one
significant other breaks up with the other to emphasize the breakup message we want to get across.
Other locations we would use is inside a car, a parking lot, and inside a bedroom. In these locations, we
would have the significant other who is in distraught and disbelief after being broken up with which will
further get our message and story across.
Backup Plans:
We have picked some locations and parts of our music video that will take place outside. If there is bad
weather such as rain or thunder we will then change our location to inside of the place where the date is
taking place and just do an establishing shot to move the story forward. If one of the two group members
is absent, we will either reschedule the day we film or someone else would take their position.
