Bump In The Road! Film Day Problems!
Welcome back to my blog everyone!
I went through our film day and our procedures in my last blog. I discussed filming techniques, setting up to film, and some shots we recorded. However, in this blog, I am going to talk more about film day and some of the problems that occurred. When so many factors are involved in one thing in this case my music video you should expect some things to go wrong. Before I started filming I did not consider how we would play the music. So our first setback was we did not bring a speaker to project the music. I had to settle for playing the music on a separate phone and just make it as loud as possible it worked since the park was relatively quiet. Once we conquered that challenge it was time to get the first shot just right, and we weren't sure how the first scene should be shot. Ultimately I, decided a shot that almost introduces our actors was best the first scene shows some scenery before it moved to show them. Our next shot went pretty smoothly. However, the next problem we ran into was a missing prop. In our storyboard, we included headphones as a prop when the female actor storms off. Once we went to film this shot we realized we did not have headphones. So we had to modify how we filmed this short to not directly show her ears to still give the same illusion as using headphones. The final problem we ran into was making the female actor "cry" at first we were seeing if her eyes would water. However, when this didn't work we used a bit of red/pink lip balm under the eyes and some water to give the authentic effect of crying. Finally, although we had some setbacks during filming we powered through and made it work to successfully film our music video.
