1. How does your product use or  challenge conventions AND how does it  represent social groups or issues?   My music video challenge convention’s because we worked with what we had are video used a local park instead of any fancy sets and my iPhone camera instead of anything fancy. Our props were all objects we had already owned. My video showed a biracial couple which isn’t always represented in the media. Also shows how jumping to conclusions isn’t always the answer our video shows the girlfriend upset cause she thinks the boyfriend is cheating. However he explains himself and tells her he was really going to propose which is why he was being sneaky.                                                                                             ...

Editing Time!

Image
Hey, guys welcome back to my blog!     After brainstorming, planning, and filming the time is finally here let's talk editing. I made sure to get all of the clips into one location. To me the most important thing while editing is an organization, without it editing is ten times harder. So I download the clips onto my computer and put them in a folder dedicated to the music video. My next step is creating subfolders for different scenes and clips. We have to make sure that each clip is of good quality. This means making sure the lighting looks good this is especially important when shooting outside with natural lighting. You also have to look at the clarity of the footage. Another good thing to check for is that the footage doesn't cut anything out such as legs or hands unless it's done purposefully. I use Imovie when editing my video its the easiest software and it works perfectly. I have to start by picking our favorite shot of each scene. Then I export those scenes in ...

Bump In The Road! Film Day Problems!

Image
Welcome back to my blog everyone!  I went through our film day and our procedures in my last blog. I discussed filming techniques, setting up to film, and some shots we recorded. However, in this blog, I am going to talk more about film day and some of the problems that occurred. When so many factors are involved in one thing in this case my music video you should expect some things to go wrong. Before I started filming I did not consider how we would play the music. So our first setback was we did not bring a speaker to project the music. I had to settle for playing the music on a separate phone and just make it as loud as possible it worked since the park was relatively quiet. Once we conquered that challenge it was time to get the first shot just right, and we weren't sure how the first scene should be shot. Ultimately I, decided a shot that almost introduces our actors was best the first scene shows some scenery before it moved to show them. Our next shot went pretty smoo...

Film Day!

Image
The day is finally here, it is time to film!!! My group filmed our music video on December 11, 2022. While the day was switched a few times it finally arrived and we were filming the music video to 'Save Your Tears- The Weekend (Ft. Ariana Grande(Remix)). Our setting for the film was discussed, initially, we talked about filming at a local mall. However, after reviewing the plot and story we tried to tell it was decided that the mall didn't fit the video. So we ended up deciding to film at a local park. We made sure our park had a nice range of scenery. Some of the elements we needed the park to have where at least one bench and we wanted some sort of nature trail. We decided to film on the morning of December 11th at 11:30 however we had a change of plans and decided to meet around 12:00 pm. Once we arrived I got right to work this started by getting all of our equipment out of the car. We found a picnic table which became our meeting point during our filming. I wen...

Props

Image
I was in charge of filming and co-directing the music video. My group's video didn't really incorporate a ton of props because we wanted the story to tell itself without the need to overuse extra items. We did include flowers and phones however they added to a larger story. Originally we planned to use a classic bouquet of red roses. Then we were going to use yellow roses. However, ultimately we used a mix of purple roses and blue gardenias. The flowers were important to our plot because they helped create the love story. I didn't want to just hop straight into a video with the couple holding hands. Instead, I wanted to show the act of giving something to show his love. We went with a clip of the male giving the female flowers this helped ease into the love just enough to show the chemistry. This helped the next scene go smoothly into the next which includes a conflict. Since the conflict shows the couple arguing over something on the guy's phone. This is all while the...

Plot Twist

Image
While planning my music video my group created a storyboard. Within this storyboard, we planned to have two actors. We needed two male actors and one female actor. Since we had a male in our group we just needed to find one girl and an additional male actor. Once we started to plan we decided it was best to stick to our group member Marvin and got a female actor. This change did require some tweaks to the plot of the music video, originally we had a couple that argued and broke up then the female got with another guy. Since we had decided to use one male we changed it to only require one female and one male. We had the original happy couple then they would still get into an argument. The girl still storms off like the original plan however instead of her getting approached by the same man. We also felt this plot contributed more to our song and told a better story. Since the chorus of our song says "Save your tears for another day" it will show the upset female going from...

Change of Plans!

Image
Hey, guys welcome back to my blog! My group originally had plans to film during the week however due to conflicting schedules we had to push filming to Sunday. Since we planned to film earlier in the week we had to make sure that Sunday would work. It started by making sure we could all film Sunday including our actor. Once we all were set to film we checked the weather since we had plans to film outside. My main concern was that it wasn't going to rain because it would ruin our film. While rain wasn't in the forecast it was still my main concern up to actually filming because I know it can be sunny one second and then pouring. Since we were filming at a park I started by checking out the location and making sure that it would be ideal for lighting. I planned to film and co-direct our video. I prepared by reviewing our storyboard I wanted to think of logical ways to carry out scenes. While doing this I also thought of a few backup plans in case we were not able to carry out a ...
